We managed to drag ourselves out of bed at 4:30 to start the 30 minute drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain. It is the highest mountain on the east coast at 1530 feet. The kids told us the night before that they wanted to get up to see it too so around 5:20 we woke them up and walked about 3 minutes from where we were parked to see the sun come up at 5:32.
After that we jumped in the FunV to head away from Acadia. We had a lot of driving to get in. We turned east and drove to St. Croix Island Historic Site which was the first French settlement. We played on the edge of the St Croix River where the tides are 20 feet, walked the trail and did the junior ranger program. A little stop for lunch and then a long drive back east to Freeport, ME for a stop into the LL Bean flagship store for a little shopping.
Dinner in the camper on the road to Concord, NH for a peak at the Capitol right as the sun was setting and then another hours drive to White River Junction, VT where we will spend two nights.
